Seamless metal bellows, thin-walled expansion joints
& Deep-drawn precision tubes

for demanding applications

Mera Bellows is one of the leading worldwide manufacturers

of hydroformed metal bellows, expansion joints and deep-drawn tubes

Founded in 1956 and part of a German-American joint venture corporation, we achieve growth and global competitiveness through narrow specialization, lean management and long-term partnerships at eye level.

Over 70 employees, 20% of which responsible for engineering and quality control, ensure full customer satisfaction. We assume responsibility that the visual, dimensional and functional characteristics of our components meet your specifications.

The large-scale production in Poland allows an annual manufacturing of metallic bellows (-assemblies), expansion joints and specially formed thin-wall tubing in the double-digit million range. Mera Bellows supplies international customers which are operating in a wide range of sophisticated industries, including Automotive, Aerospace and the energy distribution sector.

Your certified global partner for flexible metal solutions

Established in 1956, as a metal bellows manufacturer that found its niche in precision applications, we combine decades of technical expertise with a commitment to innovation. Our new production site in Poland was taken into operation in 2007 and is qualified according ISO9001 and ISO14001. The production site is allowing sufficient capacity for us to support a diverse range of industries including automotive, HVAC, and energy distribution. We understand that every project comes with unique challenges, such as pressure, temperature, required stroke and limited installation space, in the trade off to maximizing the cycle life. From the initial design phase to the final production run, our team works closely with you to ensure that every component meets your specific operational requirements and performance goals.

Precision manufacturing and technical expertise

The reputation of a metal bellows producer is built on the quality consistency and reliability of on-time deliveries. Our production facility continuously develops to handle complex geometries and exceptional thin wall to diameter ratios. We employ rigorous quality control measures throughout the entire manufacturing process and a 100% leak check policy. The production method of using deep-drawn tubes for hydroforming increases the design possibilities. It allows to manufacture bellows with closed ends. The bottom can be supplied in a customized shape which in many cases lower further installation expenses. It often allows to implement the metal bellows into applications without the complicated and expensive soldering or welding of flanges, e.g. for force transmission.  By continuously investing in our machinery and our people, we maintain our position as a leading global metal bellows manufacturer. Mera Bellows is providing solutions that push the boundaries of what is technically possible, such as our miniature bellows that are used in the satellite technology and aerospace pressure sensing applications of commercial aviation.

Customized engineering for specialized applications

In addition to our >300 standard bellows sizes for which tooling is on shelf, we often support customers to design bellows and metal bellows assemblies. Our metal bellows production starts with a metal-strip that is pressed into blanks using a hydraulic press. After cleaning and decreasing the cups, they are deep-drawn into thin-walled tubes with closed ends in several steps. The hydroforming process works with water pressure which is defined depending on the outside diameter and wall-thickness. Simultaneously, a customized cassette is being moved in axial direction of the metal tubes which leads to an even formation of convolutions that gives the metal bellows their well-known shape. Afterwards, the seamless hydroformed metal bellows are cut to the desired length, cleaned using eco-friendly paraffin and stress-relieved. Mera Bellows has the possibilities to finally apply a compressing operation in the direction of the axis – it creates an omega profile that (on a specified length) allows more convolutions than a sinus-shaped profile. This enables the metallic bellows to compensate larger movements and also improves efficiency of axial movement absorption by equalizing expansion stress.
